Low Calorie Steak and Cheese Sandwich

Servings: 1 sandwich

Ingredients

Steak Marinade
  • 4 ounces steak tenderloin, sliced very thin
  • 1 teaspoon dark soy sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
Sandwich
  • 1 small ciabatta baguette
  • 1/2 medium onion, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons Cheese Whiz
  • Cooking spray
Spicy Mayo
  • 1 tablespoon light mayo
  • 1 teaspoon sriracha

Method

Step 1: Marinate The Steak
  1. Slice the steak tenderloin very thinly. Add to a bowl with dark soy sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well and marinate for at least 1 hour.
Step 2: Make The Spicy Mayo
  1. In a small bowl combine the light mayo, sriracha, and soy sauce. Mix until smooth.
Step 3: Cook The Onions
  1. Heat a skillet over medium heat and lightly spray with cooking spray. Add the sliced onions and cook for 6 to 8 minutes until softened and lightly caramelized.
Step 4: Cook The Steak
  1. Push the onions to the side and add the marinated steak to the skillet. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes, breaking apart the slices as they cook until browned and cooked through.
Step 5: Assemble The Sandwich
  1. Toast the ciabatta bread lightly if desired. Spread the spicy mayo onto the bread. Add the steak and onions, then top with Cheese Whiz while everything is still hot.
  2. Serve immediately.
